Wildlife SOS is a 28-year old not-for-profit wildlife and nature conservation organisation (ESTD 1995), actively working across India to protect and conserve wildlife, including animals, birds, reptiles, and their habitats, study biodiversity, conduct research, and create alternative and sustainable livelihoods from erstwhile poacher communities or those communities that depend on wildlife for sustenance. Wildlife SOS is the largest wildlife conservation organisation in South Asia and runs over 49 projects to protect wildlife and operates 12 rehabilitation centers across India, providing essential care, medical treatment, and a safe haven for rescued animals, including elephants, sloth bears, leopards, and more. Kartick Satyanarayan and Geeta Seshamani, along with a small group of determined individuals, began operating a rescue center from a small garage in New Delhi, aiming to conserve India’s natural heritage and extend the right to freedom and dignity to animals. This passion and dedication led Kartick Satyanarayan and Geeta Seshamani to found Wildlife SOS. With a shared mission, they began working on eradicating the abusive practice of ‘dancing’ bears in India and aiding wildlife in distress.
