Why Support the Elephant Conservation Project?

India is home to nearly 60% of the world's remaining Asian elephants, making the country's efforts critical to the survival of the entire species. Despite their significance, these majestic animals face severe threats from exploitation and abuse. Many elephants in India are subjected to harsh conditions for tourism, manual labor, performances, processions, and street begging, driven by a lack of awareness and education about their needs.

Wildlife SOS is dedicated to protecting these incredible animals through a multifaceted approach:

  • Rescue and Rehabilitation: We rescue elephants from abusive environments in tourism and begging industries, treating and caring for those suffering from injuries, illnesses, or malnutrition.
  • Sanctuary: We provide a safe haven for blind, elderly, wounded, and dehydrated elephants, as well as those used illegally and commercially under deprived conditions.
  • Conflict Mitigation: Our elephant conflict mitigation program works to reduce human-elephant conflicts by implementing strategies to protect both elephants and local communities.
  • Research: We conduct essential research to better understand elephant behavior, movements, and interactions, informing our conservation efforts and improving the effectiveness of our programs.

Supporting this project is crucial for the well-being of individual elephants and the conservation of the species as a whole. Your involvement helps us provide the necessary care, protect their habitats, and ensure their survival for future generations.
